Tiger Brands to Join Riverfields Industrial Precinct

Riverfields continues to take shape as a connected, future-focused destination for business, logistics and community. A new chapter in this journey is underway with the commencement of groundworks on a purpose-built facility for Tiger Brands within the Industrial Precinct of the Riverfields Lifestyle Precinct.

Earthworks officially began following a ceremonial SOD Turn, which took place on site on 4 February 2026. The ceremony marked the moment when the first soil was turned and work on the development formally started.

The term SOD Turn comes from a longstanding international tradition used to mark the commencement of a building project. By turning the first piece of earth, project partners symbolically move from planning into action — signalling confidence in the development and commitment to bringing it to life.

A Strategic Logistics & Distribution Location

Located along the highly accessible R21 Freeway and just minutes from O.R. Tambo International Airport, Riverfields offers exceptional connectivity for freight movement, transport, and distribution. Its position within a major logistics corridor allows goods to move efficiently across Gauteng and beyond — an essential advantage in a fast-evolving logistics environment.

As part of a mixed-use precinct, Riverfields combines strategic location with quality infrastructure, security and accessibility, creating an environment where businesses can operate efficiently and plan for long-term growth.

This strategic positioning has already attracted leading national and international tenants, including DB SchenkerTakealot.comDHLDSVJohn Deere, Shoprite, and The Foschini Group, among many others.

The addition of Tiger Brands strengthens this established ecosystem and reinforces Riverfields as a location of choice for trusted, forward-looking organisations.

The development will be led by Equites Property Fund, bringing a depth of experience and a reputation for long-term investment and operational excellence.

As Gideon van der Vyver from Riverfields explains:

“Riverfields has grown into a precinct where leading businesses choose to establish themselves for the long term. Each new development adds strength to the whole, and the addition of Tiger Brands is a significant milestone in that journey.”

Why This Matters for South Africa

Investments in modern industrial and logistics infrastructure play a vital role in South Africa’s economy. They support efficient supply chains, enable the movement of essential goods and create opportunities for employment and skills development.

By attracting well-established national and international brands into purpose-built facilities, precincts like Riverfields contribute to economic resilience and reinforce South Africa’s position as a competitive place to do business.

Looking Ahead

As construction progresses, the Tiger Brands facility will become part of the evolving landscape of Riverfields’ Industrial Precinct — supporting both the operational needs of the business and the broader growth of the precinct.

At Riverfields, each new development is approached with intention: building spaces that work today, adapt for tomorrow and contribute meaningfully to the futures of industries, economies, and communities.
